7 ways Pinterest can help your business

When it comes to marketing your business it can often feel like a jungle out there! You’re constantly looking for new ways to expand your reach and build your online communities but sometimes the choice and pace of change can feel really overwhelming.

Enter Pinterest!

As a platform for marketing your business Pinterest has been massively underestimated. Now you know I love Pinterest and I can hear you thinking “well she would say this” BUT it’s totally true. The amount of small businesses I interact with who haven’t got a Pinterest account is quite high and they’re missing out!

I am noticing a shift though. More businesses are starting to wake up to the benefits and invest in their Pinterest marketing. Pinterest are super aware of this too. It’s a really exciting time for the platform as they’re adding more and more ways for your products or services to be discovered and more ways for people to shop. What a great time for you to get ahead of the curve and spend time on marketing that can significantly contribute to your business growth.

To give you food for thought I’ll explain how Pinterest can benefit your business which I hope gives you lots of ideas for how you could be using it too.

1. Growing blog traffic

Pinterest is a visual search engine, making it a goldmine for blog traffic. Creating stand out pins that showcase your blog content will put you ahead of the competition. Complement your visuals with engaging pin descriptions with relevant keywords to improve discoverability. Remember, consistency is key; regularly pinning can lead to increased visibility and, ultimately, more traffic to your blog.

2. Attracting clients

Use Pinterest to showcase your expertise and build trust with potential clients. Create boards that highlight your portfolio, share client testimonials and provide valuable insights related to your industry. Video pins are an excellent way for you to do this. Short tutorials and how-tos are really popular. Establishing a strong brand presence can attract clients who are actively searching for the services or products you offer.

3. Growing an email list

Pinterest can be a powerful tool for growing your email list which is a super important part of your marketing. It means you can communicate with people directly by email rather than rely on those pesky algorithms to serve up your content to them on socials. Create useful lead magnets (we all love a freebie!) and design eye catching pins that drive traffic to your email sign up page. Taking a strategic approach to collecting emails through Pinterest will help you build a targeted and engaged subscriber base full of future customers.

4. Selling products

Turn your Pinterest profile into a virtual storefront by creating product pins. Showcase your products with high quality images and include keyword rich product descriptions. Setting up Shopping Pins allows users to make purchases directly on Pinterest, streamlining the customer journey and boosting your sales.

5. Making affiliate sales

You may want to monetise your Pinterest presence through affiliate marketing. Create pins that feature products or services you recommend, using your unique affiliate links. Always, always be transparent about your affiliations and only promote products relevant to your audience and that you would use yourself. As users click through and make purchases, you earn a commission.

6. Growing on other social media platforms

Cross promote and encourage your followers on platforms like Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn to follow you on Pinterest for more content. This cross channel promotion can help you reach a broader audience. Add your Pinterest link to your Facebook profile, links in your Insta bio, your LinkTree, email signature and business cards. Basically anywhere you can!

7. Driving traffic to YouTube and podcasts:

Pinterest can be an excellent source of traffic for your YouTube channel, podcast and other online platforms. Create eye-catching pins that promote your videos or podcasts and link directly to them. Keyword rich captions will help your discoverability and entice Pinterest users to click through and explore your content elsewhere.

So as you can see Pinterest offers lots of opportunities for businesses to grow their online presence and achieve their business goals. Whether you're aiming to boost blog traffic, gain clients or increase affiliate sales, a strategic approach to Pinterest marketing can get you remarkable results and help your business grow.

And as I said, now is the time to get ahead of the curve!  If you have questions about Pinterest marketing and the benefits it can bring your business let me know in the comments or drop me an email here.
